I’ve spent the last 10+ years hoarding network and system administration knowledge. Now, in an attempt to organize all the sticky notes and scraps of paper floating around my office, I’m steadily putting everything in one place. Not only does this site serve as my personal library of collected information, but it’s available to all admins — beginners and experts alike.

@Aidas -

I don't believe the intention is for you to really keep different projects in the projects directory across multiple installations. In other words, if you were deploying a Pinax project at a client location, the only thing in the projects directory would be that client's data.

What about location and deployment of projects based on Pinax (other that those samples)? Do you expect them to be located at the projects directory as well? If there are two projects on different servers for different clients based on Pinax and you keep them under the same repository, then you wouldn't always like or be able to keep the data and code of one project in another project's server.

I think that's a fine idea. This will probably make things a lot easier for folks jumping into Pinax after that change.

The primary reason for this change is that users were getting confused that our sample project was called 'pinax'. We instead wanted to be clear that the directory is just an example of a complete project and we do want to provide multiple such projects.
