Oracle Introduces the Exalogic Elastic Compute Cloud

Posted on in System Administration

During his keynote speech at Oracle OpenWorld, Larry Ellison announced the launch of the Exalogic Elastic Compute Cloud. This appliance includes 30 Sun servers with 360 processor cores, 2.8 TB RAM, and a built-in storage unit capable of 40 GB/sec.

Bundled software includes:

  • the WebLogic application server,
  • Solaris or Oracle Linux,
  • JRockit,
  • HotSpot,
  • Oracle's hypervisor, and
  • "all the middleware you need to run your application," according to Ellison.

Obviously, this is a huge solution for the largest customers. If you happen to deploy one of these monsters, please drop us a line! We'd love to hear about your use case.
