Gmail + Firefox 3 (Beta) - Is It Fixed?
I’ve been having problems with Google Chat (in Gmail) this afternoon. I decided that logging out of Gmail and restarting Firefox might be a helpful exercise. When I returned to Gmail, I noticed that something was wrong: everything was right.
For some odd reason, I seem to have been zapped back to the days of non-colored labels. That’s right, all my labels are once again that bland green color. You know the one — that nice subdued non-offensive green that just says, “Hey, I’m a label.”
Better yet, in Firefox 3 (Beta) all my subjects line up once again. I don’t know if this is actually “fixed”, but it seems that backing out the colored label change has fixed the major brokenness in Gmail when using Firefox 3 (Beta). Now if only the Gmail Chat client would start working for me again.
What do you think?

It’s also worth noting that IMAP is no longer working, obviously because of a Gmail rollback.

That was short-lived. Apparently Gmail just broke, which fixed Firefox 3. It’s fixed now, which means Firefox 3 is broken.

relating to your previous post about how firefox 3 breaks gmail view.
do u use screen resolution lower than 1024×768? I think low resolution “squeeze” gmail too far and tend to push 1 mail into 2 lines of display.
gmail always works fine in widescreen or high res moniter for me. But if u try to resize the window in widescreen, same thing happens.

@Leo - Although I’m not running at low resolution, the Gmail problem definitely relates to the size of your browser in relation to the length of the subject lines of email.

One wierd thing I’ve noticed is that with FF3-final (but also FF3-RC3) when I have gmail up, it takes *forever* to shut down the tab that contains Gmail (or FF). I don’t know if its the Gmail Greasemonkey scripts I’m running or if its something to do with FF3 itself. Didn’t have the problem in FF2. It takes a full 2 or 3 minutes to shut down, and the window tab says it is not responding… running WinXP

I’d say the Gmail + Firefox integration is still a bit wonky. I’ve had problems similar to this and I don’t have Greasemonkey installed.
